LG's Laptop Display For The Outdoors

Gives the freedom to work under direct sunlight and extends battery life as it uses sunlight for illumination

LG's display manufacturing and supplying unit has announced the development of a unique TFT-LCD that can illuminate the screen with sunlight when used outdoors, instead of the backlight unit present in the laptop.

The 14.1-inch laptop screen uses LG Display's Backlight Data Signal Switching Technology that enables the screen to work under direct sunlight. With a small switch on the notebook, a user can change the reflective mode of the screen from sunlight to transmissive mode for using it indoors, on-the-go.

With such a technology in place, LG's advanced display will kill two birds with one stone. First, it gives the freedom to work under direct sunlight and second, as the screen uses sunlight for illumination, it extends battery life.

LG Display will showcase these 14.1-inch displays at the CES along with products using other display technologies like improved motion picture response time (MPRT), other eco-friendly displays, and more.
